As the Head of TechCenters, you are responsible for running the Global TechCenter Network. The key focus is to maximize the impact of the network on MKS Instruments by ensuring we offer best in class local customer support, aid R&D in completing their Alpha-site tesing, and ensuring we keep as much work as possible in the region it originated in. You will be balancing workload and resources on a global level while working cross func-tionally with many parts of the organization. In this role, you will report to the Vice President of R&D and be a key member of the R&D leadership team for the Materials Solutions Division (MSD) of MKS.

 

Your responsibilities

 

  • Finding effective solutions to have each TechCenter be as self-sufficient as possible and to have TechCenters rely on each other, maximizing the output and value of this important investment
  • Development and implementation of a global TechCenter Strategy that is aligned with the overall strat-egy of the division and company; where to invest, where to renew, where to scale back, and how to build capabilities to support growth for the future
  • Talent development across the TechCenter Network, a team of 180+ scientists, engineers, and techni-cians in 10 different countries
  • Planning, coordinating, and controlling operational and capital budgets (roughly $20M / year from an operating expense standpoint)
  • Bringing the individual TechCenters together to function as a single organization
  • Collaborating with the Research/Development/Sales/Operations/Finance departments
  • Leading the team through various projects such as equipment installations, relocations, or facility re-vamps as a program manager
  • Ensuring the implementation of occupational health and safety and environmental protection
  • 20~40% international travel that will ebb and flow based on projects and overall strategy

 

 

Your skills and competences

 

  • Leadership skills, entrepreneurial thinking and action, analytical thinking, communication skills, negoti-ating skills, organizational skills, ability to cope with pressure
  • Project Management and/or Program Management experience
  • A keen interest in working in a very international team and able to connect individuals halfway across the world with each other
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in a management role in a technology company
  • Experience working with an international / multi-cultural team is strongly desired
  • Expertise in the field of electroplating, material science and manufacturing procedures of surface treat-ment technologies will be helpful to a quick start in the role
  • University Degree with technical/scientific focus or similar qualification
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence internal & external stakeholders to drive results
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
